OUR VISIT TO KODAIKANAL IN INDIA 21-24 MAY, 2022

Visit to Kodaikanal (21-24 May, 2022)

This time due to Covid, we decided to visit South India hill stations. Again our close relatives namely sister Sneh, brother-in-law Dr SC Agarwal, brother-in-law PS Gupta and sister-in-law Neeraj decided to travel with us. We took a package tour to both the Hill stations that is Kodaikanal and Ooty. In this blog, we shall mention only about Kodaikanal. All of us reached at the Coimbatore airport and from there we proceeded by road to Kodaikanal on 21 May 2022 and stayed in a very good hotel namely ‘Sterling by the Lake’ over looking the lake view.

Kodaikanal is a beautiful hill station located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Known as the “Princess of Hill Stations,” it is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its stunning natural beauty and numerous attractions. We traveled to various sightseeing places for two days the description and photos are given below:

Kodaikanal Lake:

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Kodaikanal is the Kodai Lake. This man-made lake is surrounded by lush greenery and is a perfect spot for boating. We hired a rowboat and took a leisurely ride around the lake. We enjoyed delicious food in a restaurants around and proceeded to see other places.

Pillar Rocks:

The Pillar Rocks are another popular attraction in Kodaikanal. These towering rock formations are over 400 feet tall and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Though the weather was bad but we still had a good view of it. We went up-to the view point and took some pictures.

Coaker’s Walk:

We went for a scenic walk ie.Coaker’s Walk. This one-kilometer-long pedestrian pathway had a stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Pine Tree Forest:

Kodaikanal is home to a beautiful pine forest that’s perfect for a leisurely walk. The forest is located on the way to Guna Caves and offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were surrounded by tall pine trees and we enjoyed the fresh mountain air.

Bryant Park:

Bryant Park is a natures paradise. This botanical garden is home to a variety of flowers, plants, and trees. We spent lot of time in the park. It’s a great place to take a walk, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Moir Point:

Moir Point is a highest and popular viewpoint in Kodaikanal that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It’s located on the way to Berijam Lake and is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery. We spent a good time here and took many photos.

Vattakanal Fall:

We visited the Vattakanal Falls. This beautiful waterfall is located in the nearby village of Vattakanal and is a popular spot for hiking and trekking. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery. We took some photos here.

La Saleth Church

We visited the church from a distance. It is highly attractive church with a wonderful architecture. It was built in 1846 and later it was expanded. A right blend of culture and Tamil French architecture, this shrine is located 7,000 feet above sea level.

Kurinji Andavar Temple:

The Kurinji Andavar Temple is another popular attraction in Kodaikanal. This temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga and is famous for its beautiful architecture and stunning views of the surrounding hills. We visited the temple, offered our prayers and took some photos.

In conclusion, Kodaikanal is a beautiful hill station and unique in its nature. We had an adventurous experience of our four days stay. The memories of Kodaikanal will always remain in our hearts.
