Visit to Ooty and Isha Foundation(24-27 May, 2022)
this time due to Covid, we decided to visit South India hill stations. After our visit to Kodaikanal we all left there by road on 24 May 2022 for Ooty. In this blog, we shall mention only about Ooty. We reached Ooty by the evening and stayed in a very good hotel namely ‘Sterling Holidays Resort situated on the Elk Hill.
We are happy to share our experience visiting Ooty from May 24 to 27, 2022. Ooty is a beautiful hill station located in the Nilgiri hills of Tamil Nadu, India. It is known for its scenic beauty, tea plantations, and pleasant climate. During our visit, we had the opportunity to explore several popular tourist destinations, including the Ooty Lake, Rose Garden, Tea Factory and Museum, Doddabetta Park, Toy Train, Coonoor, and Dolphin’s Nose.
Sterling Holidays Resort
It was indeed a good hotel. It was situated on the top of the Elk hill from here one can see the view of the valley. We checked in the hotel in the evening and relaxed. In the morning we had our breakfast, took some photographs, and then proceeded as per our schedule.

Ooty Lake:
My first destination was the Ooty Lake, which is a popular spot for boating and picnicking. It was a pleasant experience to see the tranquil waters surrounded by lush greenery. We took a boat ride around the lake and enjoyed the scenic beauty.

Rose Garden:
Next, we visited the Rose Garden, which is a well-maintained garden with a vast collection of roses and other flowers. The garden has a peaceful atmosphere, and we enjoyed strolling around and admiring the beautiful flowers.

Tea Factory and Museum:
Our next visit was the Tea Factory and Museum, where we learned about the tea-making process and the history of tea in India. We saw the tea leaves being processed and learned about the various types of tea produced in the region.

Doddabetta Park:
We then visited the Doddabetta Park, which is the highest peak in the Nilgiri hills. The view from the top was breathtaking, and we could see the entire town of Ooty from there. The park also had several walking trails and was a perfect spot for a peaceful stroll.

Toy Train:
One of the most exciting experiences was riding the Toy Train, which is a heritage train that runs from Ooty to Coonoor. The train journey was through tunnels, bridges, and curves, and the scenic beauty was mesmerizing. We had an enjoyable time taking in the beautiful views of the mountains and valleys.

Coonoor:
We also visited the beautiful town of Coonoor, which is located about 20 km from Ooty. The town is known for its tea plantations and scenic beauty. We took a walk through the tea plantations and enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful surroundings.

Dolphin’s Nose:
Finally, we visited Dolphin’s Nose, which is a viewpoint located near Coonoor. The viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. We spent some time there, taking in the beautiful scenery and capturing some unforgettable memories.

Isha Foundation
We visited Isha Foundation on our way back to Coimbatore airport. It is the Ashram of Sadhguru and spread in many acres. Yoga and meditation are the main attractions here. We spent about 4 hours in this Holi place.

In conclusion, our trip to Ooty and Isha Foundation was an unforgettable experience, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic getaway. The beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality of the locals make Ooty a must-visit destination.
