Visit to various universities in USA during 2023
My granddaughter Ananya wanted to explore Universities in USA as she is preparing to aipply for admission to college this year. My son Akhil lives in Fremont, California, and has two daughters named Avni and Ananya. Avni is already in college in her final year at USC, CA. His second daughter Ananya will be going to college next year. We, family of five named Akhil, Tanuja, Subhadra, Ananya and myself, went on 25th March 2023 to Harvey Mudd College, near LA and subsequently to Caltech and UCI. All the visits were made by appointment, which gave us an opportunity to visit prestigious universities/colleges in California, USA. This experience was not only a chance to explore these institutions, but also a chance to learn more about the education system in the United States. Let’s take a closer look at the three universities visited: Harvey Mudd College, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
Harvey Mudd College
_Harvey Mudd College is a private liberal arts college located in Claremont, California. The college is known for its strong programs in engineering, mathematics, and computer science. During the visit, we noticed the college’s emphasis on small class sizes and personal attention to students.
Harvey Mudd College is unique in that it is a member of the Claremont Colleges Consortium, which includes five undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions. This consortium allows students to take advantage of resources and classes at other colleges in the area while still being enrolled at Harvey Mudd.
California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
Caltech is a private research university located in Pasadena, California. The university is known for its strong programs in science and engineering, as well as its emphasis on research.
During our visit to Caltech, we noticed the campus’s impressive facilities, including research labs and equipment. The university is home to a number of Nobel laureates and has a long history of significant scientific discoveries.
University of California, Irvine (UCI)
UCI is a public research university located in Irvine, California. The university is known for its strong programs in health sciences, engineering, and social sciences.
During our visit to UCI, we noticed the campus’s emphasis on sustainability and environmentalism. The university has been recognized for its efforts in reducing its carbon footprint and in promoting green initiatives.
UCI is also home to a diverse student body and offers a number of resources and support systems for underrepresented students.
In conclusion, our visits to Harvey Mudd College, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and the University of California, Irvine (UCI) provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about higher education: in the United States. Each university has its unique strengths and areas of focus, but all offer a high-quality education and opportunities for students to pursue their interests and passions.
